In 2014, a group of union members from IAFF Local 2916 formally formed the Fire Fighters of Local 2916 Benevolent Association (BA). Prior to the BA’s founding, Local 2916 union members donated time and resources to the Spokane community, but were limited in fundraising efforts. Since 2014, the BA became an official 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization which has raised and distributed over $250,000 through various events, fundraisers, and regular donations.
The Benevolent Association is overseen by a Board of Directors while four elected principal officers from the Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) oversee the day-to-day business. General membership includes individuals who regularly contribute to the BA.
Currently, majority of the BA membership consists of Fire Fighters who donate their time and resources. Collectively, the general membership recognizes the importance of coming together as a community and helping each other in times of need.
